Want to get involved, make a difference and have fun? Join one of our committees! Becoming involved in a committee is a great way to dig-in, bring what you uniquely have to offer to the table and get to know fellow members in the PS 133 community. Below is a current list of our committees. If you wish to get involved in any way – whether it be to chair, co-chair or be an active member of a committee – the respective email for each committee is provided.
The Fundraising committee is the central hub of our fundraising efforts. The Fundraising committee brainstorms ideas, initiates and coordinates fundraising activities, such as the Annual Appeal, the Annual Spring Auction, the Read-a-thon, book fairs, MULEE’s Back-to-School supply kits, Mabel’s labels, Marathon and Election Day Bake Sales, Picture Day, Legacy Tile Wall and many more!
This committee oversees current fundraising initiatives and launches new ones. The sky is the limit!

Garden of Wonder
If you have a green thumb and wish to help green our school, The Garden of Wonder is your committee! Named by our students and created in 2012, the goal of this committee is not only to grow and maintain the garden but also to introduce students to the joy of gardening with hands-on classroom activities. Several times a year, students are able to sample the Garden of Wonder’s harvest in the cafeteria.
Committee Co-chairs: Sorayya Kassamali, Denise Morales and Karyn Lee – firstname.lastname@example.org
The purpose of this committee is to research, write and submit grant proposals in order to raise money and resources for PS 133 and its programs. Grants are a great way to get larger amounts of money into our school. Successful grant writing projects have resulted in amazing results! To name a few successes: the PS 133 art program with Studio in the School equating to over $100K in programming over 5 years; supplementing our theater art’s program with Theater for a New Audience; and giving our auditorium at $25K upgrade for the sound and lighting systems. We need parents to help research new grants, write and submit grant proposals.
